The Summer Soldiers Program is designed to encourage players to stay committed year-round and recognize their efforts in three key areas:
In the classroom – Prioritizing academic success and personal growth.
In the community – Representing Newport Football with pride and giving back.
In the offseason – Building strength, discipline, and readiness for the season.
Through dedication in these areas, players earn recognition and rewards, setting the standard for excellence on and off the field.
Program Opportunities – Through opportunities, everyone will have chances to grow and make choices that impact their development & community.
Spring Weight Training (WTRM) – Begins FEB 24, 2025
Attend three times per week for 14 weeks to earn---42 points (or be actively participating in an NHS spring sport).
Multi-sport athletes will have adjusted opportunities to earn points based on their commitment.
Summer Football Activities - Spring football (14 points), CWU team camp (14 points) , and WTRM (14 points) ---42 points / You must meet the attendance requirements to earn points for each activity.
Knights of the Gridiron - Players who attend all three sessions each week will be highlighted on our social media pages as a recognition of their dedication.
Community Service
Earn 10 points per hour of volunteer service (since the end of last season).
Minimum of five hours required, maximum of eight hours (50 points total).
Team-organized events will be available, but any school-approved community service counts.
Players must provide proof (a screenshot from X2Vol is acceptable). *9th graders - three hours required, maximum of eight hours.
Academic Achievement
Earn Spring GPA x 12.5 (maximum of 50 points).
Players must submit a copy of their Spring semester grades to claim these points.
Bonus Points Additional points will be awarded at coaches’ discretion for:

IMPORTANT – SIGN-IN REQUIRED!
To receive workout credit, you must sign in during your session. Late sign-ins and forgotten sign-ins will not be counted.
Three QR codes are posted in the locker room—make it a habit to scan and sign in every time you train.
Awards & Incentives
132 points (10th-12th grade) required to earn Summer Soldier status, a T-shirt, and a helmet decal.
77 points (9th grade) required to earn Summer Soldier status, a T-shirt, and a helmet decal.
Priority Rewards: Summer Soldiers will have first choice of jerseys, lockers, equipment handouts, and additional privileges throughout the season.

The Newport Touchdown Club is a separate and independent 5013c organization operating under the umbrella of the Knight Athletic Booster Association (KABA), whose mission is to support the Newport High School Football program in Bellevue, WA.
