The Summer Soldiers program is designed to encourage players to continue to work hard throughout the year and recognize those efforts:
in the classroom,
growing Newport football in the community,
and preparation in the offseason.
Players earn points in the following areas: FOOTBALL PREP Making good choices IN and OUT of football season as it relates to nutrition and strength training is an important component of contributing to the team.
SPRING WTRM (or participating in NHS Spring Sport)-3x week @ 10 weeks=30 pts.
Summer football activities---Spring football practice, team camp (x2), WTRM---40 pts.
*9th grade exempted (-60 pts)
COMMUNITY SERVICE the team will be organizing several events at which you can serve your community and represent NHS football in a positive light, but any hours that you’ve claimed as part of your school community service requirement will be honored. (*5 hours baseline—8 hours MAX)---(50 pts. Total)
Volunteer Efforts- 10 PTS. earned for every hour of community service earned since the end of last season… *9th grade reduced requirement (-30 pts)
CLASSROOM GPA- Spring GPA X 12.5 (50 pts. Total) ***It will be players responsibility to provide coach a copy of your Spring semester grades in order to claim these points***
*Bonus Points awarded for achieving various workout milestones, combine performance, attending bonding activities and through coaches discretion*

170 pts needed to achieve Summer Soldier status (10th-12th grade)= Summer Soldiers T-Shirt & Helmet Decal
95 pts needed to achieve Summer Soldier status (9th grade)

The Newport Touchdown Club is a separate and independent 5013c organization operating under the umbrella of the Knight Athletic Booster Association (KABA), whose mission is to support the Newport High School Football program in Bellevue, WA.
