And Just like that ..senior night has come and gone...oh and with it our boy's marched on to victory over Inglemoor High School, it was a tough battle but but in the end during the 3rd overtime we came out on top. CHEER, DRILL, BAND and even some middle school bands joined in the halftime fun, our schools staff coaches and all the volunteers did a tremendous job making the seniors feel special. And well not to toot my own horn....but from what I could see, taste, smell and hear Teddy's StadiYUMM EATS! was a success, thanks Lil J's Super Dawgs those are some tasty burgers, dogs and fries and thanks TOUCHDOWN CLUB and all of you're Volunteers who helped out tonight, you know it's just amazing the support we get and what a fun time we have. Last but not least our Seniors, honestly it is an emotional time, but wow I never hugged so many humans and I still see the flash of lights, but mostly after a while, I was feeling a lil' bit misty eyed- I'm gonna hate to see those kids go after graduation this spring, but I know they will move on and do great things. Well it's almost time for the off season, but first JV plays Inglemoor on Monday and Varsity plays their final game next Thursday where we will have a battle on our hands as we take on CedarCrest, both these games are at home and we hope you will all come out and support our KNIGHTS and let's wrap this season up with a roar and some W's.
Go Knights! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY With tonight being Senior Night and Football season nearly coming to a close this year we have much to reflect back on. I could bore you with a long list or just say it really was not an easy year- with having our Home games away from Home, those hot dry days that went deep into the fall way longer than normal, not really a bad thing but not a normal thing or what about the stinky, smokey hazordous air conditions and as a team we have had our share of injuries.
Well at the same time we had some super fun times, maybe at times we were doing things a little bit different but we showed a lot of people that we just adapt and persevere as a team and as team mates and as brothers. Just like players our "fan-milies" and really everyone has always rallied around us whether we win or lose...there are no losers in this Kingdom. Being a senior ball player during this time is an emotional roller-coaster, as most have been in the Newport Football program for some time many came from the youth league and have been working alongside side their brothers and coaches that they have grown to admire and trust, the coaches that not only coach the game but instill personal growth and motivation and life lessons that has turn young boys into young men from Freshman to Senior... “Football is like life. It requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and respect for authority.” – Vince Lombardi Go Knights! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY It was just after that terrible week of smokey air, a haze still hung low in the valley though it was mostly washed by the recent rains and it seemed there was a new bite in the air... and like a bear waking from hibernation rising to get his first meal after a long winters sleep...mmm? Sorry sometimes I get carried away, ok maybe it was not exactly like that...
Well, let me re-phrase using Vince Lombardi's words- “It's not whether you got knocked down; it's whether you get back up.” Well Knight fans WE just got up and NOW you got to continue to BELIEVE and you got to be willing to get out to the next game and into the weather, just bundle up, feel the cold air and smell the popcorn. And with all that- Taste some VICTORY!!! Last night the JV Knights did just that, they delivered us another "W" and at Home, on our own Turf, what a game, with our awesome Cheer cheering along with all their might, with our student body and family fans and concessions- the snacks, the food, the drinks and yes buckets of toasty buttery popcorn being turned out in what was the test drive of Teddy's StadiYUMM Eats! at the Knight Market! ...and as cold as it was for some of you and I know it was chilly, we still cheered it up and our boy's cranked out a WIN! FRIDAY'S GAME will be over the top and we will have the all new expanded menu of hot offerings, yes The Newport Knights Concessions sponsored by the Touchdown Club is having a makeover of sorts, so please be the first to enjoy and welcome, TEDDY'S StadiYUMM Eats! And you are gonna love it! So look out Friday Night Inglemoor we're on a roll and when we get the whole machine working like this, all turned up and in sync- we are unstoppable. Additionally this Friday is super special did you know it's Senior Night? Well we got some serious celebrating to do in honor of our Seniors, so if you are in grade 12 we honor you, we salute you and celebrate all of your accomplishments, all that you have learned and grown to be- for you are the reason why teachers educate, and why we they guided you to be the best citizens in our kingdom, as you have witnessed from Homecoming, Knights blood runs deep and we are all forever Knights! And we celebrate and honor you! One big YOU-Knighted Class of AWESOMENESS!!! Go Knights! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY Well the fires kicked up and JV wasn’t able to have their game this week and practices were indoors, thankfully everyone is affected but I know our boys will dig deep and play harder than ever. I mean they will have all this built up energy not exerted this week so let’s bring it! my buddy Smokey says Fall is officially starting tomorrow. The rain is moving in and will clear the air so we all can breathe, we’ll you all not me. Anyways it looks to be a bit wet tomorrow but that is what rain coats are for, so come out and support our boys! We really need the support to beat these islanders! I will keep is short tonight since the smoke really got me down this week but Go Knights!
Let’s bring the Knight pride and get this W! TOUCHDOWN TEDDY On Wednesday this week the JV Knights head back on the road just a little trip north to visit the Juanita Ravens. After the Varsity suffered a tough loss in Raven country last week, I know our JV team will be out looking for a solid win. They will play hard, they will play smart and from what I can see they are ready to go! Are you? Will you be out to support our guys? Aside from the great football action we all need to enjoy this weather while we have it because they say the rains are coming back and its going to get wet around here. I sure do hope we represent our team with the big crowd and the best of Knight Nation, the loudest and proudest.
Let's go get that !W! Go Knights! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY So KNIGHTS- at any game, be it football, basketball, baseball- any sport really, as you walk on or off the field hold your head high with pride and confidence, win or loose always take the high road...when the game is done, take a good hard look at your opponents face and meet their eyes and smile. What just happened is done...because tomorrow we start onto the next week, and our next game. But sometime in your future that guy that just beat you, could be your teammate some place else or at the very least you will see him again. Treat others how you want to be treated. Yes it's tough to loose but it's harder to disgrace yourself with the inability to shake your opponents hand after a game ...good sportsmanship is a fundamental, you learned it a long time ago and it can never be forgotten, as an athlete it's part of your own self worth, it's money in your bank. Win or loose the smile should be the same. Smiles are hard to read, but a frown says someone kicked your butt tonight. Smile with pride and confidence to start and finish...Tonight was a great game we played hard, we were ahead but there were many penalties and a lot of personal fouls, but there were some outstanding plays on both sides of the ball. Every Knight whether you were on the turf, sidelines or in the stands should feel the pride and confidence as we grow and build our colony of Knight's we are better than a blank stare, we are proud of what we have gained and we are coming back to fight again. Win or loose let's make sure we are good to ourselves and our opponents...take the high road!
Go Knights -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY Seems like our JV Boy's just took down Hazen and here we are it's time for varsity to take the field tomorrow night... so that means I ask kindly, Joel don't you think it would be nice, maybe even fun to have me along kinda like a good luck bear, I mean you took me to one JV game and well need I say more. Do you think I can join you guy's and travel to the varsity game at Juanita tomorrow night? And then there was...CRICKETS...
Well I get it, I am a big stuffed dopey lookin bear, you got to drag me everywhere, prop me up and well I know you might be a tad jealous of all the attention, kisses, hugs and pictures people want with me and maybe you think I am just a distraction...but you gave me a job and I do what you told me to do...you can't deny the fact that I sat there all dolled up and proped up front and center at that JV game and well look what happened. Maybe I am the difference, I am certainly a lucky charm...and at this moment I am literally 1 and 0...please lemme go! Regardless if I am there or not I hope we can have our stands full and our voices heard as we are one smart, good lookin, football passionate and sometimes some of us propped up, U-KNIGHTED football family! Go Knights! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY JUNIOR VARSITY ROLLS OVER THE HAZEN HIGHLANDERS!!!
In what was an exciting game from where I was sitting...( I mean that's pretty much all I can do) our boy's played a terrific game against a team that we beat early in the year by a few points, this time we showed them we can play, on offense we can move the ball, we can convert those 4th downs and we can drive the ball the length of the field and cross the goal line. Defense we tackled for losses, we shut down their run, we stopped the 4th down conversions. We played heads up football, smart teamwork oriented ball and of course we had our action heros in there but you know me, I never name names or tell the score but you know who they are, I just love that our team fired on all cylinders. Like I said, I had so much fun just sitting there, but wow what a game to remember. Dad's and mom's walking along the sidelines moving down and back as the boys advanced the ball. Happy faces and the Kinghts showed good sportsmanship. It was so great and thankfully I got to be there snd see this win first hand. Good job boy's and coaches and all who traveled out to Hazen our Knight's fans are the best. Let's keep the ball moving and let this feeling spread as we head on out to face the Rebels of Juanita this Friday for our Varsity game and next Wednesday for our JV Knight's coming off this big over Hazen... Go Knights -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY Red and Gold more smiles more pride and more gratitude filled the Home away from Home stands tonight as our Newport Knights took to the field against Hazen on what was and exciting Homecoming performance. We came up short but you know what? We had one heck of a good time and we looked good, we really were a well put together package of entertainment tonight. I for one am so proud of our school and everyone who made it to one of the greatest Homecomings ever.
We had very special VIP'S in the stadium tonight the Class of 66 and Class of 67 and I am pretty certain they had a good time, I know we truly did our best to show them Knight blood runs deep and we will always be bound by our knighthood. As far as the actual football game? I am no expert on the game you know I am a Teddy Bear, from where I was sitting, I saw lot's of great downs, I saw us making first downs and I saw the other team punting to us...in my book that's improvement! We made touchdowns, we lead, we had the makings of a truly terrific game, we just ran out of time and we fell short. Please bear with me... I know of this man named Bear and he said: Losing doesn’t make me want to quit, it makes me want to FIGHT that much HARDER –Bear Bryant So next week we get back to work boy's and let's remember we fall down, we get back up again and we will just fight harder...dig deep let's fight harder and put together a win! Hey I have got to make a shout out to my boss and his crew, Joel your team rocked the Knights brand like I have never seen before, Bellevue High School never looked so good! Well I had a blast, met some older folks who played way back in the 60's and I saw some more recent alumni who were equally thrilled by our super Knight party atmosphere that we spread all over Wolverine territory, you know I should also say a big thank you to Bellevue High School as hard as it was for us to use their school, it's got to be just as hard for them to let us use it, anyway a sincere thank you for letting us call your place our home and what a great staff who welcomed us. Anyway in the end Hazen had the points on the board and we still had one of the best HOCO's ever. And next week we will have to fight and work that much harder when we are away at Juanita taking on the Rebels it should be another fun game, we hope to see you all there. GO KNIGHTS! -TOUCHDOWN TEDDY |
