Practice Makes Perfect

Junior Varsity falls to 2 and 2 with a loss at Liberty tonight under smokey conditions under the lights.
It was a tough loss. One has to think is Liberty that good?  Or were we not prepared after last weeks late week game due to postponed Wednesday night game being played late in the week on a Thursday then a Friday Varsity Game where JV Defensive Coach stepped in to cover for their Defensive coach....Anyway seems like a lot going one in a very short time and it  seems like some more practice would have benefited our boys tonight...just sayin. I am no expert I am a bear,  but it seems one practice is not enough for any team going up against a team with a full week of practice.

Well I must say, I was super impressed with the turnout in our side of the field tonight we had the support in the stands and if anything our boosters, friends and family came out in force and they always seem to have a good time.

One of the the brightest spots at the game tonight was JV Cheer, wow they packed a punch and were chanting, cheering, clapping and  twisting in every direction. The athleticism is spellbinding, honestly my body hurts all over just from watching them. They must rehearse those routines over and over, practice makes perfect...Our Newport Cheer Rocks!

Well we have to pick up the pieces and get back on track we are better than we played tonight.  Honestly parts of tonight were just unbearable...there I said it, I found a way to slip in a bear pun...Anyway I am tried, late in the game the smoke really was getting thick I could barely see...
GO KNIGHTS!

Winning is not a sometime thing..

Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
-Vince Lombardi-

THE TOUCHDOWN CLUB took care of us again looking like we belonged in a territory that was not ours.
The Knight Market is ours and we own it, where ever we are, we will own that as our own...we will only expand and make it even bigger and better. Tonight I asked myself did I do everything I could to make tonight the best I could with what I had to work with. Look I am a stuffed bear, I have sticks in places propping me up on a stool, I was affectionately wrapped in glowing LED lighted gear so I could put smiles on people's faces, What humiliated? Maybe a lil' but I know I did my job-  I absolutely did, my very first group of posing cuddlers was the entire cheer team from Liberty...for a moment I thought I scored the winning touchdown, everyone was so happy to see me, to click pics with me, can you imagine any other place where the entire cheer squad from another team stops to get a picture with a mascot or anyone dressed in home team gear... this only happens at a Home away from Home game. Look I did my job, Joel my boss from the Touchdown Club said, sit on the stool, let anyone, I mean anyone have a picture with you. Well you know it took some discipline, but I liked it and its my job to be a mascot for the Touchdown Club, so it's not hard to do, but it's tiring being messed with all night and you know I do what I am told and we have fun, the point is everyone has fun. I saw our President Joel and Vice President Julia tossing free glowing necklaces and beads to the student body. I know we fed our friends at Cheer, and we fed all the players after the game, so we did our job...the common thread here is we have fun, we have made friendships within our club that will last a lifetime, it won't stop after the next 4 years of high school, we did our job. Our reach is strong because we have stepped up to the challenge to make our games feel great and we make home be home no matter where it is. So I ask you what's missing here.  I know it's not: Cheer, they work so hard and smile and cheer our team on keeping us happy when times are tough and it's always onward with spirit intact they did their job. Marching band, brought their first fully choreographed show with all the musical talent, excitement and regalia, they did their job. The Student body was bigger than ever and the parents showed up in force. They did their job. I want to know if anyone else knows what's missing...why do I feel so glum and heartbroken. I ask the question, did we all do our job?

Joel as you know sometimes after the game I lay down in the bed of the truck and I put my tired paws up and have a rest, and you know- air out.

Joel what were you thinking not checking the bed of the truck before visiting my friend Brown Bear...did you forget about me again? It felt like a hurricane of a speed wash, I was all soapy, suds in my eyes and my fur is all curly, all I can say is I am so glad you did not add the wax.
I have to say it was exhilarating and now I feel fresh...I am gonna be sore tomorrow. But again, I did my Job!

Forgive me for this plug.

Make it a habit, wash your car or a friends car! If you have not got your Brown Bear Car Wash Tickets they are going fast, you will not be disappointed.

Home at Home with a win!

Pizza for the parents and both Varsity and Junior Varsity had a celebration feast after the Knights held on to our lead as they downed those Kangaroos who came out to fight.
Things went up and down for the Lake Washington Kangaroos tonight, mostly down but they had some bright spots, but in the end they came up short as they were no match for our Gallant Knights. The Knights have a great big heart, courage and undeniable drive that's what I'm talking about there were some terrific passes and long runs and we just beat em!  You see it's much like  The Touchdown Club who loves to feed our boys and why not share a lil pizza with some parents. Tonight on our home turf we held a good crowd through an action packed football game. Students, parents and our Varsity Boys showing support makes it feel like the Knight Football Family is building. But on and off the field behind the scenes there's a spirit that's thicker than that sauce on the pizza tonight oh and by the way those were some tasty slices for sure. Thank you for all you do Volunteers and thank you to my boss man Joel and the entire Touchdown Club.  Let's not let this spirit go. Rally people LET'S RALLY!
Last week at Sammamish the Touchdown Club introduced us to some new items at the Knight Market. Tomorrow at Bellevue High school where Varsity Football is away for another- Home away from Home game, we have more new items in store, its time to show your Spirit in Light, yep you heard that right, let's glow bright with our new line of colorful LED pom pomes, bracelets and necklaces, they are FAN-tastic something you hang onto and use the rest of the season. Bright colorful LED SPIRIT GEAR! Also I heard we got Hot Popcorn!!! The good stuff, let's go people! Let's snack, cheer and shine onward to victory.
Joel did you get me some of that gear? Don't you think it would be cool for me to be all decked out in lights and just hang out for pictures? I am ready, come on Joel, let's go!
You know I'm ready to shine!
Go KNIGHTS!!!

Where there is Smoke there's Fire!

And so it goes- in the case of fire pull handle...well the handles been pulled and unfortunately we have some big forest fires burning and poor air quality moving our way.
This morning I was talking to my friend Smokey and he was giving me the heads up, well sure enough our region is socked in with unhealthy air quality...so all outdoor  activities have been canceled by the ones who cancel stuff.
Please save yourself from this nasty air. It might seem okay to be out in it, but it's not. Stay safe and we hope it clears up for Friday's Home away from Home game at Bellevue High School when our Varsity takes on Liberty. Go Knights!

There's No place Like Home!

After spending last Friday night in the back of the Jeep buried deep under piles of  the Friday Knight Markets aftermath, oh I must say THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR KNIGHTS AT THE MARKET. Anyway, I was finally brought in and given the bubble bath that I was promised with some fancy designer wash stuff, Woolite I think it was called. Don't tell Joel, but I am pretty sure theres not a single fiber of wool on or in me. I know my pedigree is just a knotch above carnival plushy, I mean I am no Pooh Bear. Anyway I got my bath and boy does my fur look shiny and it feels so smooth. Hey I am fresh and ready to go again and looking forward to Friday's Home away from Home game. This time will be hosting our home game on Bellevue High school's turf, we know we have a battle ahead and we hope you can all come out and support our valiant Knights and I will see ya at the Knight Market!

!!!NEWS FLASH!!!
Junior Varsity Knights to host Liberty at Newport on Wednesday, yes you read that right and that's what I said. So I started thinking about this and I think the only reason JV is able to be at home is because they don't think anyone will show up, I mean really the place is still kind of dug up. Yep pretty sure they don't think anyone will show up. That makes me crazy!!! Come on people it's time to rally, it's game time, let's bring it, let's get out there and scream and yell, let's show them, whoever them is, that we are more than a handful parents, we are a legion of faithful fans...
I am not sure I can do much by myself begging to a few folks here, anyway please spread the word and get down to the game.
Well you get the point they don't think we are going to show up! Come on families and friends and student body, we gotta make a big presence...we are Home at Home JV's hosting on our sovereign turf and I can just about promise it won't be under 65° and will be clear blue skies...so you can cheer on our boy's and soak up some ray's, and then enjoy this autumn evening with a side of Knights Football, full tilt with hits harder than platinum, as the JV Knights revel on their first very own home field game!
So I gotta ask, hey Joel do ya think you could take me with you? You know let me go and hang with your posse? I see how you roll bro, let me in, let me cheer on the boy's, come on boss man we are not working until Friday at the Knight Market.
Let's all go celebrate JV Football Home game at Home...After all, there's no place like home!

The greatest student body, our families, and all our evening participants, from cheerleaders to our marching band, descended upon Sammamish High School Football Stadium with integrity and dignity.
Proud Knights defending our honor in the strange new land of-
Home away from Home....
-Entry free, check!
-Knights brand and team colors, check!
-Knights Cheer, check!
-Knights Drill, check!
-Knights Marching Band, check!
-Touchdown Club Knight Market check!
And me Touchdown Teddy check!
Sheesh I may be blushing just a little- I had more hugs, kisses and photos snapped, I really felt the love...I am honored to be more than just a stuffed bear full of thoughts and ideas. But I must say it's time for a wash, it's bath time, I am pretty sure I over heard my handler Joel talking about some bubbles.
Thank you Boosters and The Touchdown Club for all you do.
Now let's not dwell on what actually happend tonight, yes we fell hard to a team that just frankly, beat us and yes to some its a huge disappointment, but really the way I see it is the game of football is a lot more than points on the board. Tonight Knight Nation rose up bigger than a win, we grew together and our solidarity is now a force to be reckoned with. We got this Home away from Home figured out and we did it the hard way, but we have leveled up, we did our job.
I know our boys will get back on task and will get the wins, there's pleanty of exciting football coming your way. Now about that bubble bath, can someone read my tag? Joel you around? Hey where did ya go?... Dude it's dark in here. Really your going to just put me away in box til next time? I thought you were drawing me a bath....ah what the heck, come on really? Hey it's cold out here...

Home Away From HOME

9/14/2022

Well here we are a few days out, on the eve of the eve for our first of four Home away from Home games this one at Sammamish High School...I thought I would touch on a few pionts so you can make your plan on getting to the game. You see the boys are getting ready for what should be an exciting game of hard hitting football, against Lake Washington. For the guys I know they are pummped up and have been working  hard and they all have their head in the game, but I also know that in the back of their minds they must be wondering who's going to show up? You see our boy's only have control of themselves and from what I see they are ready to  battle it out for the win alongside their brothers.

Let me ask you...What about you? Are you ready? Will there be legions of Knights fans ready at game time? If you know of others needing rides maybe you have space in your chariot, sometimes kids are afraid to ask, maybe its best we just offer.

Well I can tell ya that things have been happening behind the scenes. We are doing our best to make everyone feel at home, one cool thing is we will own the concessions (cash only) lot's of new items and also something a little different, we will have Cheer joining us out front with their own space to sell items and oh I almost forgot I will be out there to,  you can snap a few pictures with me in front of the new Kights backdrop photo opportunity wall. I also hear there's loads of giveaways- so let's get rowdy and rally onward to our first Home away from Home game with a win.

Lastly I personally would like to thank Sammamish High School and their athletic dept for being such nice hosts, once again we find ourselves in a hard situation but they have been great, understanding and welcoming, and well we appreciate it.

Let's make some noise Newport fans!!! Let's shake some thunder from the sky! As our loyal Knights fight onward to victory!!!

Blood, Sweat, and Tears

Emotions run high, the Knights fight hard, they put everything they have out there for all to see. In another back and forth battle much like the varsity game last Friday our boys also came back from a two score deficit, when they tied it up at 21. Let me tell you our guy's are tough! Tonight I saw laser like passing, hits that sent bodies flying and helmets rolling across the turf, but most of all we saw the passion, courage and some very big hearts.  It was something more than just playing the game, like a musician if you don't feel the music you fall shy from convincing your audience you're great. Our boys hit some high notes tonight where they owned this game, the fans were awestruck watching how the teams courage and passion for the game marched hand in hand with great skills and physical football and for the love of the game. The brotherhood that binds our players and spills over into the stands is intoxicating. Sadly  tonight we fell short 21-27, but as the Knights Football Family we have grown leaps and bounds since our spring and summer training.

Stop by and get a picture with me this Friday at our 1st Varsity Home away from Home game, where we take on Lake Washington at Sammamish High School.

Go Knights!!!

Monday Night Football

9/11/2022

This year we have faced many challenges, tomorrow we will face one more.  Our JV Knights will be playing tomorrow night at Everett Memorial Stadium…normally I know we would all be there but with Russell Wilson coming to town as a Denver Bronco and it being Monday Night Football I have to think about it for a second, one one-thousand, nope our boys are way more important to me.  LET'S  GO NEWPORT!!!  Junior Varsity games are a blast, they are a fast moving never sit down kinda game. If you have not been out to see your Junior Varsity play yet, you are in for a thrill! You need to do it - don't fall short because Denver is coming to town, besides that's what record and watch it later is for. We only get one chance to see our boys LIVE battling it out tomorrow, you can't record it and watch it later.
With our boys on the field at Everett Memorial Stadium it will be a fight to the finish like no other... I think we owe it to them to be there and show our support. The Knights Football program is not just on a Friday night, we support every single kid in the whole program.  Junior Varsity is out for the WIN, let's be there, share some cheer's and have a great time.
When you get back home from an hour and a half of exceptional hard hitting action packed football, go ahead and relax, pour yourself a beverage of choice, kick back and hit the play button...I can't say it will be more exciting but you can have it both ways, you make the choice our boy's on the field live or that other game...
No harm no foul.

GO KNIGHTS!

Hard Loss

Although heartbreaking to fall short in overtime, the feat of coming back from a two score deficit and tying it up at 35 on someone else's home turf was exciting and full of remarkable football.

It's the strength and teamwork that shows in this team as they fired on all cylinders. Our away fans was a great start to a rapidly building group of die hard fired up support, our cheerleaders rocked and shined way brighter than the full moon overhead, they were more precise and truly exciting to watch.

As the team, cheer and boosters continue to rally, we will become more solid and unwavering in the battles ahead. Wow what a night.

I feel like the only thing I lost was my voice.
